◆drown v.
She drowned herself in the lake.
A drowning man will catch at a straw.
He drowned while swimming in the sea.
正:He drowned last Sunday.
He was drowned last Sunday.
◆due adj.
The bill is due.
My salary is due tomorrow.
A great deal of money is due to you.
Respect is due to older people.
Our grateful thanks are due to you.
When is the train due?
I’m due for a pay rise soon.
The guests are due to arrive very soon.
The meeting isn’t due to start until four.
We should pay due attention to this problem.
You must put these things in due order.
4. 用于 due to(由于,因为)。
His absence was due to the storm.
Her success was due to her hard work.
He was late due to the very heavy traffic.
◆during prep.
During he was in Paris, he lived with his friends.
正:While he was in Paris, he lived with his friends.
正:During his stay in Paris, he lived with his friends.
During in Paris, he lived with his friends.
He was in hospital for six weeks during the summer.
A:When did he die?
B:During the last war.
A:How long did you live there?
B:For about three years.
